... now we introduce our own original music, a music of today.

Nikos Angelopoulos

 
 

Born in Agrinio (Greek mainland), he graduated from the music school of the same town and obtained his diplomas in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue. He is a graduate of the Department of Musicology of the National University of Athens. He has studied makam theory, lavta and laouto. He has followed courses in "Composition and Orchestration" taught by Ross Daly. He has also studied piano and classical guitar. He was attended a seminar on the Carl Orff method in "Choir conduction" and "Analysis of works for string quartets". He teaches laouto and lavta. Furthermore, he has participated in many music and dance festivalsaround Europe and has composed music for theatrical plays as well as video trailers for the Athens and the Epidaurus festival 2010. In 2011 he released his first album  "ten music stories". He is a founding member of the quartet of orchestral music “dorόs”.

 

Christos Syngelos 

 

Born in Athens, he got involved in music early in his youth, starting with classical guitar. He continued with traditional instruments (percussion,lavta,oud)while studying byzantine music and theater, and was oriented towards modal music theory.Within the prevailing influence of modal music, his main objective is the creation  of contemporary music of this form and the interaction with other  musicians. He is a founding  member of  dorόs, as well as of the oud duo “ Rima  ”  (that launced it’s first almbum in 2015).He has composed and adapted music for theatrical plays and teaches oud.

 

Dimitris Brendas

 

Born in Athens in 1980, he studied at the Athens Conservatory, at the departments of traditional clarinet and makam theory. He also plays gajda (bagpipe) and kaval. He has collaborated with many musicians and taken part in many festivals as well as theater and dance performances. Since 2011 he is member of music quartet “dorόs”.

 

 

Alexis Nonis

 

Born in Athens on 1970, he started learning music in an early age, encouraged by his father, conductor and composer Konstantinos Nonis. In 1993 he completed his studies on classical piano (diploma) and advanced theory (harmony, counterpoint, fugue), as well as on German literature at the University of Athens. Since 1995 he began his exploration of the world of rhythm, studying percussion from African and Eastern musical traditions, with the guidance of Dimitris Barbas, Μohammed Αrafa and Βijan Chemirani. During 1996-1998 he attended the postgraduate program of the Hellenic Association of Music and Movement Education Carl Orff, where he currently teaches rythmology and percussion. He also accompanies modern dance classes at professional dance schools. He has collaborated with many musicians and groups in Greece and abroad, and has played live at many dance performances and theatrical plays. From 2000 to 2014 he had been a member of the musical group “Hainides”.Since 2011, he is a member of the instrumental music quartet "dorόs".
